Flathead Lake is one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in the West, and septic systems near the shore and along rivers have more at stake if they fail. Lake lots often have small tanks, tight access, and seasonal use that can hide problems until the busy summer weekend when everyone's there.
Good habits for lake properties: pump before peak season, keep a record of every pump-out, and don't let guests flush wipes. If you rent the property, a sign in the bathroom saves a lot of trouble.
